Tell us about your business:
Over the last five years, Squiggle has grown from a sole trader business in Kent to a major company serving all parts of the UK. As we have grown, we have always stayed close to our values. These values drive everything we do and keep us on our toes. Mankind’s greatest gift is the ability to pass stories and memories down from one generation to the next. Our values remind us that we’re in the business of keeping alive that tradition. That’s why we’re not just any legal document company. We have a team of consultants, recruited based on their ability to understand your requirements, be personable and ensure you are aware of everything you need to know to protect everything you own for everyone you love.
What services do you offer to support customers who are dealing with legal issues, or are facing bereavement?
We recognise that some people find the whole process of making a will daunting and confusing. Perhaps you’re doubtful about making a will yourself or online and you prefer to speak face-to-face with a real human being before entering into any decision Squiggle’s home visit service is designed to put your mind at ease and to demonstrate that we’re very much a human company. Simply contact Adroit and then choose a time and date that’s convenient for YOU. We’d be happy to schedule a (no-fee, no obligation) visit to you to discuss your circumstances, answer any specific questions you may have, and guide you through the process. Whether it is writing a will, preparing Power of Attorney or protecting assets using a trust for generations to come, we will help. Not sure what you need? Let’s chat.
Describe a situation that was particularly challenging for a client, and how you helped them through this difficulty?
An existing client approached us about changing an existing will and excluding her son from the will. We saw that she was really torn about this. Having gotten to know her over a few years, we knew that she had a very close relationship with her son. But on the other hand, she revealed that keeping him in the will would not be helping him. He had fallen into drug abuse, had twice cancelled clinical treatment, and was becoming more abusive towards her and increasingly financially reliant on her. Our consultants are well trained for this kind of situation and Squiggle places a lot of emphasis on empathy over legal ability in our hiring process. Since we don’t charge by the hour, we were able to encourage the client to really take the time needed to come to the eventual conclusion that excluding her son from the will was actually a case of tough love and an incentive to seek proper help. We were also able to advise the client to set up a suitable trust allowing treatment to be paid for by any potential inheritance should the son choose to seek (and stick with) rehabilitation.
What are the benefits to customers of Adroit for using your business?
Leaving a legacy should be more than transactions, legal documents and family squabbles about who gets what. Those closest to you will remember you, your stories and what you stand for long after you’ve passed away. And what you pass onto your loved ones could just be the catalyst for them to put into motion a new dream or project that allows them to leave their own legacy one day. We strongly believe that this is more than just writing a will. The history of mankind is all about passing down meaning, stories and possibilities from one generation to the next. That’s why we take your business so personally and why we are on a mission to help modernise the estate planning industry. Squiggle takes your family affairs seriously, protecting everything you own for everyone you love, in the comfort of your own home.
